1) In Naro-Fominsk you can stop on the way to Ruza, Mozhaisk or Vereya. The first mention of the village of Fominskoye on the Nara River dates back to 1339. Napoleon was here in 1812. Naro-Fominsk as a city arose in the late 19th century around the cotton mill. Now this empty building is in the middle of the city. On the wall of the factory there is a huge mural in the best traditions of socialist realism, it’s about Lenin, peace, May and labour. In general, the city has many unusual monuments. In the large 2) park near the sports complex «Nara» there are figures of elks, on the street Marshal Zhukov there is a cast-iron figure «Emelya on the furnace» and Ruby heart, in the Bobruisk park there is a cast-iron figure of the beaver. The local museum has a rich military exposition and a collection of works by sculptor Vera Andriashina. Lions, dogs, lemurs and pigs are made in exotic papier-mache technique and look very realistic.
3) The main temple of Naro-Fominsk is dedicated to St. Nicholas. Not far from the town near the village of Kamenskoe is the St. Nicholas Church. It dates from the year 1309, presumably. Troitsky convent is located on the Kiev highway in the protected area.
4) There are many cafes and restaurants in Naro-Fominsk, and in the old buildings of the former cotton mill there is a craft shop with drinks from Moscow region. You can stop for the night in the recreation complex Bekasovo.
5) How to get there- on electric trains from the Kiev railway station to Nara stations (to Kaluga station, to the Malayaroslavets station). Trains run every half hour, some without stops. You can also go by bus number 309 from the metro station Yugo-Zapadnaya. The car will have to overcome about 70 kilometers. There is a heavy traffic on the Kievskoe and Mozhayskoye Highways.
